A longitudinal look at Long Covid: understanding the healthcare journeys of people living with Long Covid, over a two year period – A qualitative study
Objectives:
- Analysis of around 140 interviews (4 interviews with approx. 35 participants)
- Development of longitudinal themes related to healthcare experiences, access and journeys
- Development of recommendations for healthcare services
- Writing of a high impact journal article
Expected outcomes:
The expected final output of the time spent at the Brocher Foundation is a manuscript submitted to a high impact journal based on the findings of the above described analysis. First choice target journal will be Social Science & Medicine.
The expected outcome of the research is the potential influence the key messages of the paper may have on the healthcare service and the academy in the UK and internationally. This could take a variety of different forms. For clinicians, policy makers, commissioner and managers, it may lead people to think differently about LC patients. This could be a reflective undertaking or may have more practical applications such demonstrable changes to services. For academics, the findings represented in the paper may be used to inform theoretical propositions and future research directions. The unique value of the paper cannot be underestimated in being the longest serving qualitative study with LC patients globally. This should have demonstrable impact on the academic field in both LC studies and also longitudinal methods.
