Food, Fat, Fetuses, and the Future: an ethnographic examination of two clinical trials
Natali Valdez is a doctoral candidate in anthropology and will receive her PhD in June 2016 from the University of California, Irvine. Her work lies at the intersections of medical anthropology, science and technology studies, and public health. Natali's research examines epigenetics and prenatal interventions in clinical trials. Within the epigenetic paradigm, approaches to and understandings of reproduction and inheritance are changing. Her research agenda aims at examining how science and medical treatment adjust to new understandings of chronic disease and the inheritance of health inequality.
