Ethical Considerations for Infectious Diseases (HIV, SARS-CoV-2) Research at the End of Life
The main objective will be to generate a set of safeguards and considerations to ensure infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, SARS-CoV-2) research at the end-of-life remains ethical and socially acceptable.
I would like to generate key publications on the topic which will combine both normative and empirical research ethics and which will be published in major ethics journals.
Possible outcomes or papers would include:
• Paper on perceptions of Last Gift participants and next-of-kin/loved ones/significant others on HIV cure research at the end-of-life and ethical considerations
• Paper on willingness of people with HIV to participate in research at the end of life (including interventional research) – including perspectives of Last Gift participants and perspectives from community members and ethical considerations
• Paper on perceptions of diverse (with respect to race, ethnicity, gender) people with HIV to consider participating in research at the end-of-life and ethical considerations
• Paper on ethical (and practical) considerations for SARS-CoV-2 (and other infectious disease) research at the end-of-life
