Catherine Mary is a science journalist. She works for Le Monde and Le Temps. A doctor in virology, she questions the meaning of scientific and technological advances in the contemporary world and also portrays men and women who embody them. Catherine is recognized for the originality of her angles, her intellectual curiosity and her humanist sight. She is also the author in Le Monde and in Liberation of several opinion columns, pointing as of 2010, the importance for democracy of the credibility of experts. She discusses her subjects with a philosophical look and questions in depth. "In chalk and blackboard, matter to think" (Le Monde, 2014), for example, it probed the relationship of mathematicians to the blackboard to understand the function of this iconic object in mathematical creation. In "The habit in psychiatry, reflection of our hesitations" (Le Temps, 2016), she explores the link between the garment of the madman and the representations of madness. In “informed consent against Big Data" (Le Monde, 2015), she questions the value of this cardinal principle of medicine at a time when health data is being exchanged for gold. She is also a writer, winner of the Prix Résidence d'auteur of the Fondation des Treilles for the year 2016 for the writing of a self-fiction (work in progress).
