Ethics and International Regulation of Cross-Border Third-Party Reproduction
A. To study cross-border third-party reproduction 1. To gather information on good practices 2. To identify patterns of human rights violations 3. To characterise practices that are tantamount to reproductive trafficking B. To build an international academic-activist consortium 1. To collaborate with academic colleagues and NGOs 2. To establish a transnational advocacy network to raise awareness about and prevent exploitation, coercion and deception of women serving as surrogate mothers and egg donors 3. To empower victims of reproductive trafficking to play a role in the process of humanitarian global norm-making C. To initiate an international debate on the regulation of transnational medically assisted reproduction 1. To engage with relevant international organizations, such as UN OHCHR and WHO 2. To formulate a draft code of ethics for involved professionals and agents 3. To formulate a draft international human rights convention, within the framework of the international law on trafficking in human beings and trafficking in human body parts
