Introduction:

Justice in digital health

Digital health technologies are often promoted as a cost-effective, empowering, and accessible way to improve health and well-being. Yet, important questions persist surrounding the efficacy of such applications, their potential for widening inequalities, prioritization of funding, and broader concerns of justice. This workshop invites international perspectives from critical social sciences, bioethics, law, engineering, and public health practice on matters of justice in the design and implementation of digital health technologies for both clinical and non-clinical use. For instance, we will explore questions of efficacy, digital divisions, health inequalities, accessibility, discrimination, and biases. Together, we will work towards practice-oriented guidelines on how to design and implement justice-driven digital health technology and write a multi-authored, peer-reviewed article on global perspectives on justice in digital health technologies.
