L’utilité de ce genre d’institutions est incontestable. Car le monde moderne est sans cesse confronté à des innovations, médicales ou autres, qui s’appliquent à l’homme ou à son environnement proche. Ce lieu est donc nécessaire pour préparer la matière intellectuelle qui sera ensuite transférée aux citoyens afin que ceux- ci puissent se prononcer quant à la légitimité de ces innovations.

Yonghui Ma Yonghui Ma

Yonghui Ma is now lecturer(Associate professor in Dec.2017) on medical ethics/bioethics and also the associate Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics at Medical College, Xiamen University. She is also member of Chinese Bioethics Association, editorial committee of Chinese Medical Ethics Journal, and Institutional Review Board member (IRB, or Ethics consultants) in many tertiary hospitals in Xiamen as well as some other academic Institutions. Dr Ma is currently the PI of a project (2016-2018) funded by Chinese National Social Science Foundation, and also PI of other provincial- and university- level projects.



Dr. Ma’s research interests focus on genetic ethics, clinical ethics, ethics of new biomedical technology, cross-cultural bioethics, and recently she has a particular interest in ethics of human microbiome research. She has published (as first author or correspondence) on American Journal of Bioethics (Target Article), the very first publication from mainland Chinese scholar on this top international journal. She has also published on BMC Medical Ethics, Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics, Asian Bioethics Review, Lancet, Experimental Dermatology and some Chinese journals. She has attended and presented at many international conferences in Singapore, UK, Hongkong, Taiwan, Sweden, France, and Belgium etc. Her research and contribution has enhanced the knowledge sharing and policy changing in the area, bridging the academic research with social practice, generating public good and create high social impact.
