A Comparative study of the ethics of reproduction in Japan and Egypt: Negotiation between ethics, politics and cultures
The analysis of regulations and social discourse towards assisted reproductive technologies in Japan and Egypt will contribute to a better understanding of how political and cultural factors play roles in shaping ethical discussions and decision-making processes. The outcome of this project will also contribute to the reflection on moral pluralism in bioethics in the international community and to the understanding of the extent to which the established principles of bioethics are accepted universally and of the challenges in adapting them into different cultural contexts when bioethics is introduced in non-western countries. Furthermore, it will contribute to identify common challenges in different societies for safeguarding the reproductive rights of women regardless of political, economical and religious differences.
