Navigating uncertainty. Families facing their child’s cancer treatment in El Salvador
1. To analyze the parent-medical team encounters as socially constructed interactions that express participants’ subjectivities, knowledge and power. 2. To understand the emotions and experiences of parents and children as structures of feeling shaped in the interactions within the trajectory of cancer treatment. 3. To understand abandonment of cancer treatment as a process of social navigation, the outcome of which expresses and contributes to broader patterns of health inequalities. 4. To propose possible paths for practical interventions that involve families and medical teams in childhood cancer treatment in El Salvador and other countries with a similar context.
