Technoscientific Challenges to Feminist Ethics in Medicine and Healthcare
Dissertation
The main objective of my residency is to finish a draft of my dissertation. Each of my chapters involves significant background in the empirical literature of the technoscientific cases in bioethics that I am pursuing, in addition to the theoretical work of developing my intervention in feminist bioethics. My time will therefore be divided between research and writing, ensuring that I attend to the most recent developments in the empirical literature. While three of my chapters are currently in progress and will continue to develop in the next year, I hope to use my Brocher residency to finish drafting two chapters and work on the cohesion of the project as a whole.Future Publications
As I work on the structure of my dissertation as a whole, I plan to keep one eye focused on future publications. I plan to eventually develop a book manuscript from the research material of my dissertation. While I am revising my dissertation draft in order to ensure its cohesion as a whole, I plan to begin sketching a book proposal that I can return to after my dissertation defense. I anticipate that one or two chapters of my dissertation will serve as article publications, geared towards journals such as The American Journal of Bioethics, The Journal of Medicine and Philosophy, and International Journal of Feminist Approaches to Bioethics.Partnerships
Through my work on the use of care robots in aged care settings, I have made contact with researchers at the University of Twente, KU Leuven, and the University of Zurich engaged in related projects. During my Brocher residency, I would plan to connect with these colleagues in order to review one another’s work and continue collaborations together.
