Analysis and Reform of International Commercial Surrogacy Arrangements
Debra Wilson received her masters in law from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and her doctorate from Monash University. She has been an Erskine Fellow at Oxford University, a Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University, and most recently an Erskine Fellow at Cambridge, where she was the Rutherford Visiting Scholar at Trinity College. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Canterbury. Debbie's research focusses on the legal regulation of commercial surrogacy arrangements. Specifically, she is interested in the justifications for preventing commercial surrogacy arrangements from being enforceable, and for imposing criminal sanctions on those entering such agreements. As many countries begin to re-consider their position on surrogacy, the discussion of altruistic and commercial surrogacy from ethical, legal and cultural perspectives becomes increasingly important, and Debbie's work will add to the debate in this area.
