This workshop will build on the findings of a six-year multi-country, multi-institution and interdisciplinary research project funded by the UK government (FCDO). The purpose of project (concluding mid 2024) project is to improve understanding of the immediate, long-term, and wider impact of attacks on healthcare on populations in contexts that have experienced armed conflict.
Attacks on healthcare include specific interferences with health workers, blockade of roads, confiscation of supplies as well as aerial bombardments of hospitals. They impact on patients and healthcare workers, intermediate and-long term access to healthcare, health outcomes among the population, the health system more broadly, and other issues such as the law, medical ethics and economic development.
