Implementing genomic technologies into healthcare systems – combining global perspectives

Organizers:

The workshop will bring together an international and diverse group of bioethics scholars to discuss the practical ethical issues related to the translation of genomic technology into routine clinical practice. In particular the workshop will focus on increased international collaboration and harmonisation around central bioethics themes and public policy issues.

The workshop will explore a variety of thematic areas including: determining good clinical practice; data-sharing; public health surveillance; partnerships with industry; differentiating research and clinical practice., etc.

The workshop will aim to: 1) advance the field of bioethics through the sharing of expertise; 2) to produce a refereed collection of articles on the theme of bioethical issues in the practice of clinical genomic medicine; and 3) develop a sustainable international network of scholars focussed on successful integration of ethics into the genomics practices in different contexts.
