Gerrit Jan van der Wilt
Gert Jan van der Wilt received his doctorate degree from the Free University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Ethics of the Free University of Amsterdam, and a visiting scholar at the Hastings Centre, NY. Currently he is professor of healthcare technology assessment (HTA) at Radboud University Medical Centre the Netherlands.
Gert Jan's research is focused on addressing ethical issues associated with the development and use of healthcare technology as an integral part of HTA. Although the relevance of addressing such issues is widely acknowledged, incorporating them in HTA and subsequent decision making is still challenging. Gert Jan's research currently focuses on the question to what extent (moral) skepticism and the alleged neutrality of government in liberal democracies impede giving ethical inquiry the place in HTA that it merits.
