What is the optimal healthcare model for inflammatory bowel disease?
This study’s objective is to explore practitioners’ experiences and opinions regarding currently provided models of care for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) sufferers worldwide and to explore ideas on an ideal IBD model of care in order to provide recommendations for changes in current practice. In particular, the project will focus on interpreting results of the online survey conducted over 2013 and 2014 with IBD specialists’ (including a variety of disciplines) experiences with existing models of care and ideas for the modification of the existing practice so that it addresses the comprehensive needs of IBD sufferers. The paper will confront results of the survey with the current evidence base for best practice in IBD and the WHO recommendations to provide guidance for policymakers and practitioners with respect to improving standard care in IBD worldwide.

Antonina is a psychologist with expertise in gastroenterology. She has a particular interest in improving models of care in inflammatory bowel disease; in integrated medicine and biopsychosocial approach to chronic disease.
