To Be Delivered: Pregnant and Born-Again in Southwest Nigeria
Adeola Oni-Orisan is a PhD candidate in Medical Anthropology at University of California, San Francisco and Berkeley. She is also in her final year of an MD at Harvard Medical School. She received a BS in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University. Adeola's current research project explores the intersecting systems of church, state, and development aid by focusing on experiences of antenatal care and childbirth in Pentecostal churches and biomedical maternal health programs in southwestern Nigeria. Her work explores religious and secular discourses and their embedded-ness in modern state health development projects.
