Comparing end-of-life issues and regulations in Asian and Western countries
By doing a comprehensive literature review regarding healthcare systems, people's attitude on end-of-life issues, and the history of some of the main countries concerning passive and active euthanasia, this project will aim to better understand the reasons behind the difference of focus concernng end-of-life issues between Asian countries and Western countries. While avoiding simplistic answers, the applicants will dare to ask what is really behind the apparent differences among these countries and will come up with several hypotheses that should be tested both theoretically and empirically by doing international collaborative researches. Answering these new research questions will help clarify the real issues surrounding end-of-life care and help bring about better end-of-life regulations in these countries.
