A comparative study of the de-institutionalization of people with psychiatric conditions
Isabel Perera is a doctoral candidate in political science at the University of Pennsylvania, studying health, labor, and social policy in comparative perspective. In her thesis, she examines the comparative political economy of psychiatric service provision, with implications for the normative debates concerning the appropriate allocation of resources in mental health. Prior to graduate school, Isabel was a health policy analyst in Washington, D.C., first at the Center for American Progress, and then at the Center for Studying Health System Change. She earned a bachelor's degree in Public Health and Romance Languages from the Johns Hopkins University.
