How do adolescent girls and young women understand and make decisions about female genital cosmetic surgery (FGCS)? An interdisciplinary qualitative study.
Emma Barnard received her BA and MPH from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a current doctoral candidate at the University of Melbourne, Australia, where she also works as an Academic Associate in the School of Population and Global Health. Emma is a PhD candidate and Academic Associate in the Health, Humanities and Social Sciences Unit at the Centre for Health Equity, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. Emma is also a Teaching Associate, teaching qualitative research methods into the Master of Public Health program. Emma’s PhD is looking at how young women and girls understand and make decisions about genital cosmetic surgery, and her broader research interests include adolescent and women’s health, qualitative research methods, and health ethics. Emma has worked for both government and not-for-profit organisations in harm reduction, drug and alcohol population health, and primary care.
