Access to essential surgical care for resource constrained settings
Dr Margaret Kaseje received her doctorate degree in health policy from Leeds University, United Kingdom. She is currently professor of health policy and director for research & programmes at the Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH) in Africa, and is the vice president of the Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa (ASPHA). Margaret’s major research areas are on mother and child health and building capacities of Human Resources for Health at community levels. Her work focuses on research processes and ethical issues regarding health access, policy implications and responsiveness of health systems in providing better health care. Description of our project: The current project focuses on improving access to pediatric surgical care in Western Kenya by leveraging the community health strategy and the governmental push for universal health coverage.
